WOMEN’S EFFICIENCY LEAGUE.
In response to an invitation issued b\ Mrs Gosset and Mrs Saunders about 100 ladies met at the Sumner Town Hall to meet Mrs Chilton, who gave a very interesting address on Prohibition. After the address afternoon tea was seized, during which songs were given by Mrs M’Laren and Miss Leithead. Amongst Ore many present were:— Mesdames J. M. B. Crawford. W. J. Williams. H. Wiggins. H. Buttle, C. Benjamin, H. Ogier. Pye, Bates, Leithead. Isaac Wilson, Booth, Heslop, J. E. Stevens, Thomas, Mulcock, Mogridge, Alexander, H. Gardiner, W. J. Hampton. Bishop. T. Gough, Grigg, A. J. T. Withers, MacLeod, Miss Jones. Mrs Coe. At the close of the afternoon a special meeting was held to elect * a committee for a Sumner branch of the Women’s Efficiency League. Mrs Chilton presided and the following officers were elected:—President, Mrs Gosset; vice-presidents, Mrs M’Ara, Mrs Todd and Mrs Williams; secretary and treasurer. Mrs Saunders; committee, Mesdsrres I. Wilson, J. M. B. Crawford, Heslop, Slater, Booth and Miss Bain.
