DOMINION DAY,
A CHILDREN’S HOLIDAY, A very fine dag ie flying ►'to-day from the flagpole in Victoria Square in honour or Dominion Day, and from Government offices and municipal building* other flags are flying. Many youngeters. at a loose end. provide an additional reminder of the holiday, which is closely observed by schools, banks and public department*, but- ignored ih many ocher quarters. It is eleven or twelve yeans since New Zealand was raised to the status of a Dominion, and although the name of colony has gono, the name Colonial is still claimed with much pride by residents of the pominion, as a link with the pioneer days of colonisation. It appears to be probable, indeed, that the? all-ombroc-ing term Colonial will long survive overseas, notwithstanding the annual reminder of the higher status of New Zealand. I
