Alartin Goldschmidt, a former member of the Hungarian Cabinet, awaiting trial on a charge oi forgery, escaped from prison by a clever ruse. He feigned toothache, and was taken to a dental institute. On the way he invited his escort of three gaolers to bis lodgings, where a sumptuous banquet, with wines and liqueurs, prepared by his pretty fiancee, awaited them. While the gaolers feasted. Goldschmidt obtained permission to go upstairs to wash hi* hands. He never reappeared, and the gaolers arrested bo fiancee and her maid on a >-h: = rgo I ■' ' ompl k-iiy.
