A bequest of idb to Ute funds I >l the Christchurch Public Hospital was referred to in .1 letter read in yesterday's meeting oi the Hospital Hoard from the Public Trustee, acting in the estate of the late .Mr John Jolmston MClelland. The letter stated that the will also provided that the sum of £lO should be divided equally between the nurses on regular duty in No. n vard in the hospital at the time oi the payment of this sum (the donor having at one time been a patient in the ward for some weeks). V member of the hoard asked the chairman if there was not a by-law in existence against nurses receiving a gratuity.
