“PICKING 'EM.”

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—The Canterbury Rugby Union selectors might be compared to a punter who has had a bad day at the races, having failed to pick the winners. Worse than this, however, the selectors have now to stand a lot of criticism from the public. What a thankless job! It must have been an eye-opener to readers of last night's “Star” to learn that of twenty-five picked men only nine assembled for practice last week. The fault does not seem to be with the selectors, but with the players, and the remedy apparently is more practice.—l am, etc., RUGBY CODE.
