AIR MINISTRY'S ORDERS. SCHEME INCLUDES 500 MACHINES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright United Service. (Received August 17, 1 p.m.) LON DON. A ugust 17. The “ Daily Mail ’* states that the Air Ministry has placed first orders to a value of £300.000 as part of a scheme for 500 machines for Home defence. The machines ordered include n great all-metal machine weighing fifteen tons. Another is nn improved aerial troop transport to accommodate twenty-five soldiers with equipment. Others include a huge multi-engined bomber which can manoeuvre, a, small scout metal single sea ter, a. fighter fleeter than anything yet built, and several flying ships capable of flying at high speed and riding rough seas.
