(Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH, August 17. A fairly heavy earthquake shock was felt at Greyinontli at 12.45 a.m to-day. , The vibration was very pronounced and j aroused many sleeping residents. The direction appeared to be from east to ‘ west, and tho shock was generally i agreed to have been the heaviest ex. perienced in Greymouth for a time, i Holy Trinity Church was the scene of a. wedding this morning, when Miss May Parfitt, only daughter of the late . Clement Parfitt and Airs Parfitt. Grey- : mouth, was married to Air Frederick ; Congreve, fourth son of Air and Airs ! AA . Congreve, Merivaio, Christchurch. The bride, who was given away by her ! brother. Mr AY. 11. Parfitt wore a cos- ' tunic of fawn gabardine, handsomely embroidered in gold and blue and a hat ot navy blue ribbon and straw with petal brim. She also wore a beautiful >et of furs, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of white orchids, hyacinth and fresias. She was attended ns_jbridesmaid by her mlece, Alias Alnrie Parfitt, who. wore a frock of kingfisher blue velour cloth trimmed with oriental embroidery, her picture hat being of fawn and blue ribbon and lace straw. She wore a pendant of ! aquamarines and pearls, the gift of the ; bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of | cyclamens and pale, heliotrope fresias. j Air Harold AI os* was best man. Air Congreve has been an employee of the. firm for the past four years. Air Scott presented Air Congreve with a set of English dinner ware. An appropriate reply was made by Air C-ongreve on behalf of Aliss Parfitt. and himself. Word was received at Reef ton yesterday of the death of Air AI - Anderson, for some time resident in Greymouth, and formerly a dairy farmer at Glenburnio, Reefton. He was eighty-one years of age, and was predeceased by bis wife about two years ago. At one time he was an active member of the Reefton School Committee. Ho leaves n family of vsix children. The three daughters are Airs Bla mires (Hamilton). Airs Johnston (Nelson), and Airs Roberts (Taihape). The two sons are Mr AY. Anderson (Dunedin) and Mr George Anderson (Glenburnie, Reefton). The remains will be brought to Greymouth for interment, the funeral taking place on Sunday.

A further stage was reached in the advance of the Old People's Home rebuilding scheme at a public meeting convened by the Mayor and the chairman of the Grey River Hospital Board last evening, when, after plans submitted by the Department of Health were approved, the meeting decided that the building should he one-storeyed and in brick. Finance, however, is still a big problem, and the method of raising funds has been left in the hands of the committee, who will submit proposals to a further public meeting. The public were not very well represented at the meeting, which was composed mainly of local body representatives and members of the Old Boys’ Association.
