CHARGES OF THEFT.
(Per Prtss Association.) AUCKLAND, August 17. At the Police Court Charles Murphy, twenty-four, and Archie Taylor, thirtythroe. wore charged with tho theft of four motors, and there were four charges against them of breaking, entering and theft at G.reenlane, Mount Albert. Auckland and Pokeno. At Pokeno a safe was removed from a store, and £6O in cash and goods stolen, tho total value being £49G, A farmer near Pokeno said he hear! three explosion* about five o’clock on the morning of July 21. At daybreak Murphy informed him that accused’s car was stuck on the road. Witness dragged it out with horses. The police found the safe on the roadside damaged by gelignite. A garage proprietor at Newmarket said lie saw one of the stolen car* in the street, and watched it. Alurphv went up and began pouring benzine in, but became suspicious. and ran away. Witness followed him into a tramcar and handed him to the police. Taylor pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Murphy pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
