WORKERS’ WAGES.

POSITION IN CANADA. PREMIER MAKES A MOVE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received August 16, 11.5 a.m.) OTTAWA, August 15. The Premier, the Hon Mr Mackenzie - King, has requested the Canadian railways to defer the reduction in wages, or to restore the previous wages, pending the decision of the Government’s Conciliation Board. The workers claimed that the reduction was made while their appeal to the board was still pending. The Premier states that there can be no guarantee of industrial peace, or preservation of law, if the parties to industrial disputes are permitted to place their own interpretation on Acts, which Parliament, has passed for the purpose of avoiding strikes.
