ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 2. The weather was cold and wintry at Ellerslie this morning, the bulk of the horses being restricted to steady pacing on the sand, which was the only track available before breakfast. Cold Steel covered four furlongs in 50sec: Irapuka three in 37sec; Strategy an<J I/amour five in lmin ssec; Te Kuri did four, the last three in 39sec. Gladful beat Birkinqlla over seven furlongs; Bagdad and Gold Plane did seven in lmin 38sec; Miss Gold four in 50sec. Gold Star beat Passin’ Through over five furlongs in lmin 4 3-ssec; Hipo did four in 526ec. Simonides and Voluble were tried over the brush hurdles, but both stopped at the second, the latter repeatedly refused, but the former got over at the second attempt.
Royal Abbey got over eight brush hurdles in good style, and King Abbey cleared four, fencing quickly. No Surrender was very sore after working yesterday.
