ACCIDENT TO A BOY.
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. SUPREME COURT CASE. The bearing of the case in which a schoolboy named William Brew Woods, by his grandfather, William Brew, retired tobacconist. New Brighton, sued David Rogers, Christchurch, retired hotelkeeper, for £522 16s damages on account of an accident in Sea View Road, near Hardy Street, New Brighton, on December 13, 1921, was continued in the Supreme Court to-day. Counsel addressed the jury and his Honor summed up. The jury retired at 12.8 p.m. and returned at 12.30 p.m., with 1 a verdict for plaintiff, to whom they awarded £4OO damages. They asked that the money should be used exclusively lor the boy’s benefit. Hi? Honor gave judgment for the sum stated, and ordered that it should be secured in the hands of the Public Trustee, to be used in the boy’s maintenance or education or in some other way for his benefit. -
