The only ore whose condition is at al! serious is .Mr I’oarcy, and the hospital authorities reported this morning that he was progressing favourably. Lila Gibson, who is seven and a half years old. is the daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Gibson, of 73. Reverill Street. Iliecarton. and the other occupants of the van were two sons of Air and Mrs Gibson. Lester, aged six. and Gordon, aged live. -Miss Marsh is a sister of Mrs Gibson.

Mr Gibson, who is working for Air O. Holmes, of Pigeon Bay. had arranged that 1 is family should go over there to live. He accordingly engaged Mr Penrcy, who lives at 50. Clare Road, St. Albans, to remove his furniture.

Particulars of the accident were supplied to a “ Star ” reporter by Miss Marsh. She said that a start was made from Peveriil Street at 9.15 yesterday morning. All went well until the van was descending the last hill into Pigeon Bay. Miss Mafsh thinks that when nearing a bend on the hill the brakes failed to act. and that Mr Pea rev. in order to save the vehicle from going over a steep bank, turned it into the side The van overturned, and the occupants were thrown out, fortunately on to a grassv turf. At the time of the accident all the occupants were sitting in the frbnt of the van. Mr Peart-y was driving. Lester Gibson was sitting next to him, and Miss Marsn was on the outside with Gordon Gibson on her knee. Lila Gibson was sitting down in front, and it is thought that she sustained her injuries from the broken gla.ss of the wind-screen. Lester Gibson escaped without a scratch, but his brother sustained slight cuts. Tim occupants were considerably dazed and shaken by the accident, but they managed to walk to the house of Mr AY. Corrigall near by. From here a telephone message was sent to MiHolmes. who brought the party back to Christchurch in his motor car.
