PILFERING IN ENGLAND.

(Received May 20, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 19The railway authorities of England consider that, as a result of the new methods, the worst phase of pilfering has passed. Last year’s loss was £1,900,000. These new methods include the sealing of vans, uniformed police patrols at various depots, wire binding for boxes and packages, and the removal of the consignor’s name and any indication of the contents. The newest device lias been satisfactorily tested, police dogs enabling the pilferers to he caught red-handed
