Mr A- W. Beaven, who is about to pay a visit to the Old Country, will carry with him from the Christchuroh Tramway Board a letter of introduction to tramway managers in Great Britain. At the Tramway Board yesterday, when it was decided to issue a letter to Mr Beaven, the hope was expressed that he would be able to glean information that would be of value to the board, in view of his long association with tramway matters in Christchurch. During the tour oi the backblock portion of his electorate, Mr R. Masters, member for Stratford, was impressed by the settlers with the seriousness of the wild pig pest. One deputation of settlers said that several young men would undertake to kill the pijp if paid a royalty. Mr Masters said he believed the best thing would be to ask the Minister to give a royalty in addition to the free ammunition already given, and he would he pleased to make representations in the proper quarter.
