(Received January 25, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, January 24Lloyd's Register’s annual shipbuilding summary calls attention to the enormous recent increase in tonnage launched compared with pre-war periods. During 19181921 the total addition to the world’s merchant navies by new construction was nearly 3,000,000 tons, which is considerably above the combined output for the nine years from 1906 to 1913. The gross merchant tonnage launched in the world in 1921 totalled 4,341,679, a decrease of 1,500,000 tons compared with 1920, but an increase of over 1,000,000 tons compared with 1918, which is a pre-war record. The United Kingdom launched 1,538,052 tons in 1921, a decrease of 517,571 compared with the record year of 1920. Other large outputs were:—United States 1,006,418 tons, Germany 509,064, Holland 232,402, Japan 227,405, France 210,663, Italy 164,748. Germany's launching# included forty vessels between 4000 and 7000 tons, thirteen ships of 7000 to 10,000 tons, and one above 14,000 tons.

At the wool sales competition was keen for all classes at the recent improved rates, which, in some cases, were carried a point further, particularly for lambs’ ■wool and coarse cross-breds.
