MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
TO-DAY’S CASES. CHRISTCHURCH. ('Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) IDLE AND DISORDERLY GIRLS, A girl, aged eighteen years, pleaded guilty to a charge of being idle and disorderly, and having no lawful means of support. Detective-Sergeant Connolly stated that the accused had only arrived from Wellington about three weeks’ ago. and since then she had been living an immoral life. The accused was ordered to remain in the Salvation Army Home for twelve months. Another girl, aged eighteen, was also charged with being idle and disorderly, and having no lawful means of support. Detective-Sergeant Connolly stated that the accused had left home and was living with a well-known criminal. The accused was ordered to remain in the Salvation Army Home for twelve months. By order of he Court the names were suppre sse d. ALLEGED THEFT. Harold Joseph Barrett was charged with stealing an Indian, motor-cycle, valued at £IOO. On the application of the police the accused was remanded till February T. Detective-Sergeant Connolly stating that further charges were pending. USING A STRIKER. Joseph Robert Mortlaud was charged with using an illegal device for taking fish at Kaiapoi, on January 23. Mr K. G. Archer, who appeared on behalf of the complainant, stated that the defendant had used an iron striker and a lamp, for the purpose of taking trout. Another man was with the defendant, but he had escaped. The defendant, was fined £5 and costs. A further charge of illegally taking trout was dismissed.
