Marx played a useful innings, and lasted till the score had reached 189 for eight wickets. Blanckenbxirg and Nupen made a capital stand for the ninth wicket, frequently pasting the bowlers to the boundary. They put on 54, but failed to avert a follow on With a deficit of 207 South Africa started on their second innings, and had lost on© wicket for 39 runs when time was called.
