PROTESTS AGAINST CONVICTION. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Gable Association. (Received November 1, 9 a*m.) NEW YORK, October 81. The police at Havana arrested ten persons in connection with threats against the American Legation over the case of Sacco and Venizetti, two Italian anarchists who were sentenced to death in America for murder. Reports from Philadelphia and Boston state that the Radicals held mooting of protest against the sentence. Sacco and Venizetti are held at Dedham courthouse, Massachusetts, which is guarded by a large force of constabulary. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were contributed for the expenses of their defence at the trial. The Radicals announce that meetings will be held throughout the country to protest against the conviction.
(On October 23 last a Communist meeting in London demanded the release of Sacco and Venizetti. Sylvia Pankhurst and others denounced the sentences.)
