At last night’s meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Air A. S. Clarkson. Air Clarkson was a member of the Buildings Committee of the association, and it was decided that the executive should be represented at the funeral to-day. Mr T. Foulkes, who has occupied the position of senior steward at the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association’s Club for the last five years, forwarded his resignation to last night’s meeting of the executive of the association. The resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to send Air Foulkes a letter expressing appreciation of the services li© has rendered to the club An enthusiastic meeting of the Perseverance Lodge, No. 7, U.A.0.D., was held on Monday night in the Selwyn Strpet Hall, Addington. Brother F. Smith, Arch Druid, occupied the chair. Visitors were present from the Ivy of Linwood Lodge, Reefton Lodge, Anchor Lodge, Woolston, and the Oak of Sydenham Lodge, and received a true Druidical welcome The sick visitors reported on their visitations, and sick pay was passed. One candidate was initiated into the rites of Druidism by P.D.P. Brother P. Stevens, ably assisted by Brother W. Jones as Vice Arch, and Brother Dickson as Past Arch. On© hour was spent in cards, the visitors winning by 28 to 7 points. Refreshments were served, and the toasts, “ Tho King and the Druids ” and “ Visitors,” were honoured after which a. musical programme was gone through, the following contributing:— Brothers George, .Edmonds, Campbell, Hobson, senr., Hobson, jimr., Eastwick, Hooker and W. Jones.
