The Women’s Citizens’ Associations of New South Wales have decided to urge that representatives of the women of Australia be appointed to the League of Nations. 44-HOUR WEEK. The Hon G. S. Beeby, in the Special Court, declined to extend the forty-four-hour a week principle to the railway service on account of the increase in cost involved which would inevitably lead to increased fares and freights. PRICE OF MILK REDUCED. Tlie Profiteering Court has reduced the price of milk from 9d to B£d per quart. ■ SOUTH AUSTRALIA BUDGET. ADELAIDE, October 14. The Treasurer (Hon G. Ritchie), in delivering the Budget, explained that tho revenue for 1920-21 totalled £7,151,000. The deficit was £392,000, and the accumulated deficit £1,440,000. i The revenue for 1921-22 was estimated ; at £7,796,000, a surplus of £50.000. N.S.W. RIFLE MEETING. SYDNEY, October 14. The absence of British and New Zealand teams from the N.S.W. Rifle Meeting robs it of an international aspect. j ANOTHER DEATH FROM PLAGUE. The active rat-catching campaign continues but for over a week now none have been captured with signs of the plague. Cairns reports another death due to the plague.
