The National Sailors’ and Firemen’s Union expelled a number of members, mostly of the Loft Winer elements, who formed Vigilance Committees to watch the interests of the rank and file.
The expelled members charged th© executive with thriving on the men’s contributions and with being little better than boarding-house “ runners.”
