DISARMAMENT CONFERENCE.
JAPAN'S ACCEPTANCE£y Ttlsmph—Press Association—Australian and N.Z. Press Association. WASHINGTON, August 24. The Japanese Note accepting the invitation to the Disarmament Conference has been received. It expressed pleasure at President Harding s initiative, and declares that the peace and ■welfare of the world long have been n chronidf subject for solicitude. The Japanese Government and people alike Welcome the idea of limitation of armaments, and are sympathetic to the suggestion for the control of the use of naval agencies of war. Arrival at general principles and their application at the conference is regarded a$ of great value and importance. The Note adds: The Government would emphasise the pre-eminently vital interest Japan has in the preservation of peace in the I'acinc and the Far East.”
