BACHELORS’ BALL AT SCARCILL.
The annual Scargill bachelors’ ball, held in the Alexandra Hall last Friday, was a complete success and was greatly enjoyed by ail present. The hall had been tastefully decorated with native shubbery and pale pink and national blue streamers overhead. Much credit, for the decorations is d ie to Alossrs li. H. Parnham, and N. Stewart (chairman and honorary secretary), who devised the schemes. Alurgatyoyd’s orchestra supplied delightful music, extras being given by Aliss E. Grey and Messrs G. A. Grey and L. Fairbairn. The AI.GVs were Alessrs I\. Gwatkin and J. Lambic. Amongst those present were: AJesdames J. W. Harrison, gown of emerald souple satin relieved with gold; J. Cameron, black crepe do chine; G. Greig, black satin; J. Ryan, black crepe do chine and georgette touches of gold ; F. Gwatkin, black taffeta and net; Botheway, dove gre> georgette ; Hall, cream lace ; Lockhead, cream crepe de chine; Morris, pale blue mousscline do soio; Fleming, black velvet ; Hooper, white crepe do chine and Drake, black taffeta; Alisses Parnham, henna crepe do chine with silk net flounces; Coe, moonlight blue satin net overdress ; Cameron, cameo pink souple satin, anil georgette ; vSimes (Christchurch), soft pink satin trimmed with tiny rosebuds; Stewart, cherry satin and georgette; J. Stewart, lemon georgette; Botheway. pastel frock with silver trimmings; Dunlop, dead rose taffeta, accordionpleated panels; Whittington, .frock of white silk; Greig, primrose crepe do chine, L. Greig, ivory crepe do chine; Bottle (Oamaru), mulberry crepe de chine; Af’Naughton, eau do nil silk ; Burrel, navy taffetas, and Gibb, white silk ; and .Messrs AT’Xatighton (2), Loekhend, Drake, .Johnson.
