THE JACK TAR’S VIEW.
The events at the meeting of the British and Foreign Sailors’ Society in. tlie Y.M.C.A. last evening inspired a sailor at Lyttelton to perpetrate the following:— I’m a wicked sailor, And I like my bit of fun, And I goes ashore to find it When I gets to Lyttelton. The good folk at> the mission So\s I shan’t go on the spree, Arranges for* my comfort With amusements, prayers and tea. I takes fun where I finds it, But oh 1 I’d like to go To the good folk’s lively meeting, Where they slang each other so. Why, ’cos we re wicked sailors, Can’t we enjoy tho sport Of good folks from the mission When our ship is in tho port ? Though fond of draughts and dominoes, And hearing people sing, We’d sooner go to Christchurch And have a lively fling With executive committees And minority reports. Smashing bloomin’ windows, And other rowdy sports. So, good folk from the mission. When you next a meeting hold, Just invito the wicked sailor.^ Don’t leave him in the cold! —PAKEHA.
