LEPERS AT QUAIL ISLAND.
NEW TREATMENT TRIED.
The six leners at Quail Island are at present undergoing a new form of treatment*and a good deal of interest is taken in the results.
The treatment consists of injections of a colloidal form of antimony tartarate, which has been found in other ca=es to lessen the lesions of the skin ranidlv. and to promote the genernl well-beinrr of the patient.
The «ix patients at Quail Island are men. One of them has the disease in a fairly acute form, but all stages of the disease are represented, ami some of the cases are of standing.
The new treatment does not ensure a certain cure but it is certain to prevent the patients from losing ground. Dr Upham lias been giving the treatment for about a fortnight. "nd noting the results in each case. The earlier treatment will not sarily be suspended entirely during the use of antimony tartarate.
