SUPERINTENDENT DWYER RETIRES.
Superintendent John Dwyer. who is been in charge of tho Canterbury dice district for the past seven or ght rears, will retire on superanntia»n to-morrow. His place will be
taken by Inspector Hcndrey, whose promotion to the rank of superintend ent is now announced.
Superintendent Dwyer lias had an exceptionally fine record throughout his career, especially in the detection of crime in his district. It is understood that there will he some public recognition of his services in Canter-
Superintendent Hendrev has had long police force experience, mainly in Auckland and Wellington where ho is widely known for his tactful handling of difficult cases, as well as for his all-round efficiency. Superintendent Hen drey came to Christchurch some months ago from Gisborne taking the* place of the late Sub-Inspector Mullany.
