In the House .of Representatives, Mr Lamond pointed out that the two Melbourne morning papers had recently increased their price by a id, although the cost of news print had dropped. He asked the Treasurer to consider diverting these excessive charges to a useful public purpose, by imposing a tax of id per copy on the 2d daily papers, and thereby providing funds to enable the seat of Government to be transferred to Canberra within three years. Sir Joseph Hook gave an evasive reply.
