In the House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain, replying to a question, denied that the Government had authorised Mr Farrell to negotiate with the Sinn Fein. (A previous message reported that Mr Farrell, ex-Lord Mayor of Dublin, had stated that he was submitting to Dail Eireann the biggest offer ever made from any British Government.’’ It was semi-officially communicated to him during his visit to London.)
