CYCLE BEING.
N.Z. 70 MILES CHAMPION. SHIP. The New Zealand 70 miles road race championship, under the auspices of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union will take place next Saturdav. The race will start from the Christchurch Hospital at 11.30 a.m., and the course runs through Lincoln. Leeston, Southbridge, Dunsandel and Irwell. finishing at Canterbury Park, Sockburn. The race is expected to finish between 3 p.m. and 3.80 p.m. An old timers’ race will be held at Canterbury Park whilst waiting for the riders of the big race to appear. Over thirty entries have been received for the championship. and Mr J. A. Mealings announced the handicaps as follow: P. O’Shea scr; A. Bonis smin; G. W. Prebble, A. George lOmin; M. G. Riordan, R. H Dawson, M. S. De la Cour 12min; P. Hill, D. Welsh, A. Sutton 17min; H. W. Birch, E. D. Clark. H. T. Prebble, L. E Porter 20min; H. Faulkner, W. Hill 25min ; r cb T bu Wie r s - irr B-Jh 37mm’; C. H.’ Gibbi, R. T. Patterson, H. H Malcolm 40min.
