DOMINION CONFERENCE. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, March 3. The first Dominion conference of the Y.M.C.A. since 1914 was opened today and will sit till Saturday. The following conference officers have been appointed —President, H. W. Kersley ('Wellington) ; vice-presidents, Messrs Wilkinson (Dunedin),. C. M. Luke (Wellington), J. Royds (Christchurch) and J. W. Stewart (Auckland). It was decided to send greetings to Lord Jellieoe, who has accepted the office of patron of tho New Zealand Y.M.C.A. A number of reports presented were referred to sectional committees. The principal items of business include a proposal for the association to enter industrial and rural centres. At present a large number of industriiri concerns are asking the association to put 'secretaries into touch with isolated works. Already wherever one hundred men or over are working, the board has authority to settle a secretary. The present proposal will see how far this is to be extended.
