Curlett (Hastings) has j come to Christchurch for Christmas. - Air and Airs A. D. Folley (Wellington) are visiting Christchurch. Alias M. Bain left Christchurch last evening for Auckland. Alv and Airs H, Knewcll (Dunedin) are amongst tho guests at tho Clarendon. Miss Rose Tabari left Wellington on Tuesday by the Remuera en route to London. Airs E. V. Palmer and Miss Alay Tabart have returned from the North Island. Air and Airs R. Pack-wood (Daigaville) went on to Waikari after spending a short time in Christchurch. Air and Airs Charles W. Tringham (Wellington) are visiting Christchurch, and are staying at Warner’s. ' Air and Airs A. R. Guild have returned to Tetauka after a stay in Christchurch. Alias Amy White Parsons left Wellington on Tuesday by the Remuera ou a pleasure trip. ■ Mr and Mrs Herbert Biworthy have returned to Timaru, accompanied by Alias Cleveland. A cable message from London announces the death of Lady Roberts, widow of Lord Roberts of Kandahar. Air and Airs W, H. Breckoll (Hammer) arrived in Christchurch- yesterday, and arc staying at the United Service. Air, and Airs Al. The engagement is announced of Miss Marjorie Beadcl, second daughter of Air and Airs H. J. Beadel, “ Kinglas,” Papanui, to Mr Lionel Hawdon Davison, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. H. Davison, St Leonards, Culverdcn. The death occurred on Sunday, at New Plymouth, of Airs Ann Parker, widow of the late Mr Joseph Parker, aged eighty-six years, stales the “ Taranaki Herald.” The decased lady came out to New Zealand with her father, the late Mr Boyes, when she was eleven years old, and lived at Alotueka for many years. Some year after her marriage the family came to live at cNw Plymouth, where tho Into Airs Parker was well-known and highly respected by a- large circle of friends. She leave's a- family of three daughters, Mrs Martelli and Airs Kelsey, of Wellington, and Airs W. Berridge, of New Ply mouth; and four sons, Alessrs John and Frank Parker (Nelson), H. Parker (New Plymouth), and Joseph Parker (Wellington). The principal event in a young girl’s life is her wedding day. Memories huger round that day that are recalled as each succeeding year passes.
