DOMINION BOY SCOUTS.
(Contributed.) A special meeting of the executive committee of tho Dominion Roy Scouts’ Council was held at Scout headquarter,hj last Friday evening; present—the Chief Commissioner, General A. TV. Andrew, C.M.G., Colonel P. O. Fenwick, C.M.G., Colonel F. .13. Creswell, VM)., Rev TV. H. Orbcll. and Mr H, S. .1. Goodman. An apology for his unavoidable absence mas received from Mr IT. H. Smith. On the motion of Colonel Fenwick, seconded by Colonel Creswell, General Andrew was elected chairman of tho executive committee. After tho minutes wore road and confirmed tho chairman mentioned that Colonel Fenwick, Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P.. and himself had interviewed tho, Governor-Gen-eral and the Prime Minister and had enlisted their support to tho Scout movement.
In accordance with the recommendations of the council it was decided that a deputation to consist of the chairman, Mr H. H. Smih and Mr .Isitt. ALP., accompanied by the Chief Commissioner should proceed to "Wellington at an early date for the purpose of obtaining further Government assistance to tlm Scout movement.
It was decided that provincial commissioners should be asked to form finance committees for the purpose of raising a minimum of £250 per annum from their own province; of which committee the provincial commissioner shall bo a member ex officio. It was also decided that it should he an instruction to finance committees that all sums collected should bo paid into the Rank of New Zealand to the credit of the general fund of tho association, and that 30 per cent of the amount, collected monthly should he returned to tho provinces. for provincial expenditure in accordance with the decision of council.
Accounts amounting to £l3 3s Cd were passed for payment. Tho association’s long service medal was granted to Scoutmaster "William Deans Pirrett, 11, St Benedicts Street, Auckland, of the First Eden and St David’s Troop, No. I District, Auckland. Air Pirrett had served continuously as an officer for six years. The association’s medal was also granted to Scoutmaster L. C. Rasmussen, of Grey Dying Auckland, who has served continuously as an officer for eight years. Aliss Cossgrove, financial secretary, was granted a month’s leave of absence, to tnko effect from such date ns can bo arranged by headquarters.
A letter was received from Professor H. .13. Kirk, Victoria. University College. AVellington. stating that although ho sympathised most heartily with the movement he found himself with far more work than he can get through. Ho therefore with great regret tendered his rsigmition as a member of the council, in order that his place might be taken by someone who can take a more active part in the work of the movement. It was resolved that tho resignation of Professor Kirk be accepted with regret. There being no other business, tho meeting closed.
