SYDNEY UNIVERSITY FOOTBALLERS.

—, * COMPLIMENTARY BALL. Tho Sydney University football team were the guests of honour at a, ball given last evening in the hall at Canterbury College, a ball which trill long be remembered as one of the brightest and best held there. The visitors were welcomed by Professor Gabbatt, on behalf of the Professorial Board, and Professor Hugh Stewart, on behalf of tho Ooiiego_ Club. Three hearty cheers were given for the visitors, and then to the strains of a bright fox-trot the dance commenced. In compliment to the guests masses of wattle were used for decoration purposes in the lounges and at the entrance to the ballroom.- In-, side the decorations were most effectively carried out in royal blue and gold, the colours of the* Sydney University, intermingled with maroon and gold, tho colours of Canterbury College. Festoons in these colours plaited together, hung with balloons," were overhead, and each light had long fringes of the two University-colours very prettily arranged. The organising eomraitteo were Misses Irene Taylor, Edna Parsons and Archey, Messrs . liarkness, Dickenson, "Webb, Livingstone and Pen--lington.
