CYCLING.
A _ bicycle, road race was hok) at L«e*ton on Saturday evoniup over a course of seventeen miles, under the auspices of the Ellesmere and Doyleston Athletic Olubs. A strong southerly bTcezo was blowing, which sccounted for slow times beinj; recorded. The prizes were:—First £3, second £2, third £l, with a tjold medal for fastest time. Nina competitors faced the starter, and sis finished. The result was as follows:—H. Baal OJmin) 1, H. D. Jones (ljroin) % Bob Lawson (Jmin) 3. There was a close finish between the placed men. The fastest time was made by Baal, 53min 28sec. A road race which attracted considerable interest was held last woek oror the Mairehan block—a distance of about four and a half miles. The race was under the auspices of the Telegraph MeFsenßwrs' Club, there being eighteen entries. The results were as follow: T. B. Jackson (ecr) Ist and fastest time, Tiding time 13rain 39sec; A. B. Lanjr (Wseo), ridiiiK time Hmin 20seo; J. T. R. Jamieeon (per), riding tiuio 13min 4Ssec. "W. E. Apple.yard (scr) secured fastest tim« unplaced; riding time Hrnin 12sec.
