MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

TO-DAY’S SITTING. CHRISTCHURCH. Mr V. fr. Day, S.M.. presided over today’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined os, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Donald Matlieson, a third offender, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Doris Arraitago was charged with having been drurikjmd with being an idle and disorderly person. She was convicted and discharged on the charge of drunkenness, and, on her application, was remanded for a week on the other charge. A NOMINAL FINE. George Jetsou (Air Thomas) was charged by the Woolston Town Clerk, represented by Mr Johnston, with laying a drain, not being a licensed drain connection. Air Johnston said that he did not wish to press for a heavy penalty. The breach was a technical one. Air Thomas said that the offence was committed in ignorance. A fine of os, with costs, was imposed, AIAINTENANCE. Rose Broderick was ordered to pay 5s per week towards the support of an inmate of an institution. Arrears on a maintenance order against George Henry King were remitted, but it was decreed that the order should otherwise remain in force. Airs G. Garvie was ordered to pay 30s per 'month towards the maintenance of inmates of an institution. Matilda Sarah Streeter was sentenced to two months’ imprinsonment for disobedience of a maintenance order. William Ernest Carney had his payments tinder a maintenance order increased to 10s per week. A similar increase was made in the case of Robert James Attrill. William F. C. Robb, for disobedience of a maintenance order, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, the order to bo suspended in the event of the arrears being paid. =
