At ten o’clock Inst night tho City Fire Brigade received a call to 91, Chester Street, a nursing homo conducted by Nurse Hanna, where a chimney was on lire. Thu fire was easily extinguished, no damage being done. Tile outstanding feature of the city abattoir report for October is tho increase over last October in the carcases condemned. Ihq Lducation Board has obtained pernussion from the Minister of Education to sell, for street-widening purposes, a strip of land 15 links in width on the Stanmore Hoad frontage of the Richmond School grounds. Tho strip of land is bio links in length and the price is £1 per foot. Tho City Council lias accepted the offer, the amount of purchase money being £405 18s. The board proposes to erect a low stone or concrete wall on the new boundary, and the council has offered the sum of £ls towards the work. .
