Apologies were received r from "Miss Newman and Miss Bagley t (Auckland). f The subject of the admission of certi- g heated masseuses to the auxiliary branch of the Trained Nurses’ Association, which had already been incorporated in the rules ol the association _in 1911, was discussed, and the following motion was proposed by Miss Hood, and seconded by Mrs Kidd; —“ That a resolution bo sent to the InspectorGeneral of Hospitals urging that the Bill for Registration of Masseurs be passed as soon as possible, with a view A to clearly defining the status of pro- A perly qualified masseurs, and putting a A stop to the exploitation of the pphjic si by unqualified persons, both in the o treatment of patients without medical hj supervision and by charging large fees p for so-called training and granting cer- I tificates to students.” , n The motion was carried unanimously, a. With regard, to nurses’ superannua- p tion, it was proposed by Miss Hood, y and seconded by Miss Ingles—“ That a f resolution be forwarded to the Inspec- I tor-General of Hospitals for_ tpa.nsmis- is sion to the Minister of Public Health, p that the conference of the New Zealand d Trained Nurses’ Association now sit- c ting in ■Christchurch, respectfully sug- t ge.sts that a- scheme_ of superannuation n he given effect 'to in the interest of all nurses in training, and registered - n: rses and registered midwives.” After discussion, during which Miss | Mac Lean stated that a scheme was now in course of preparation, and that it was hoped that legislation would he brought forward in this direction by Parliament next session, the motion was carried. The question of, uniformitv in entrance fees to the association, and ,'n the annual subscription, was discussed, and it was decided that uniformity, was advisable, but that the varying liabilities in the four centres made it impos•sible for the conference to decide, and the matter was referred back to tile * branch council. :
