AMERICAN STEEL STRIKE.
CONFLICTING REPORTS. NEW YORK, September 27. Pittsburg reports state that news from all parts of the country indicates that the steel strike has diminished and that men arc everywhere, returning to work. Air Foster, the men’s secretary, states that the situation is unchanged A further message states that a general strike of the Bethlehem Steel Company’s employees has been ordered for Monday. Thousands are expected to joinAt a meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council, held cn Saturday evening, a resolution of. sympathy with the American steel worke.-s on strike was passed, and it was decided to communicate with the Feder ation of Federations and Councils, and the New Zealand Labour Party on the subject.
