ANNUAL MEETING. v wr?. ei * ghteent,h anmia l meeting of the i. \\ .C.A. took place last evening, when m spite of the inclemency of the weather there was a large attendance. Mrs G. Bowron was in the chair. Other members of the Board of Directors prosent were Mrs A. F. Carey, Mrs Newbrugh, Mrs Field, Mrs Lester, Mrs \\arren, Mrs lurnbnll, Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Pannett and Miss Baumber. Several members of the finance campaign m connection with the building of the recent additions also were present.' The evening was opened by a short reading of thanksgiving from the Psalms, followed by a. hymn. Apologies for absence were received from several people who were unable to be present.

Mrs Bowron thanked everyone who had helped the committee, especially the gentlemen of the Advisory Board who had been mainly responsible for the new building. Mr Carey sketched the rapid growth of the building campaign, wliich started two and a half j;ears ago with the object of increasing the building accommodation, and the people of Christchurch had rallied to such a degree that £8445 had been promised, of wlii ich all but £i oO had been actual! paid. Mr Carey said that the Advisory Board could now honourably retire with the knowledge that their work in this connection was finished, and he* on behalf of the Advisory Board handed over' the building free from debt. The building was valued at between £14.600 and £15,000. The Rev A. C. Lawry congratulated the association on the happy occasion. The annual report dealt in detail with the work of the year. The balance-sheet showed that receipts from all sources amounted to £3702 19s 2d. The including debit balance of £77 10s from last year, amounted to £3662 19s Bd. leaving a credit balance of £39 19s 6d. Mr Goss, chairman of the Advisory Board, said that he considered the report most excellent, and the balancesheet super-excellent, and he paid a tribute to the work done by Mr A. F. Carey. ' Votes of thanks were passed to the. honorary auditors, to Mr Sandall, and to all others who assisted during the year. The following new members of the hoard were elected:—Mrs J. B. Evans, j Mrs Harvey Cook and Miss Heywood, I and the following members were rej elected for three years Mrs Cali lender, Mrs Newburgh, Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Ronaldson Miss Manning and Miss Pannett. The other members of the board have still two years of their term"’of office to go.
