N.Z. BOWLING ASSOCIATION.

MEETING IN THE CITY. At an informal gathering in the Mayor s rooiu to-day, the DeputyMayor (Councillor J.-.W. Beanland) welcomed delegates of the Council of the Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association. who are meeting in Christchurch. Councillor Beanland said that the decision to hold the Dominion tournament in Christchurch in January had occasioned a great deal of pleasure. Ho tnxsted that the deliberations of the conference would be attended with success and that the delegates would enjoy their visit. Colonel R. J. Collins (Wellington) said tnat the delegates were glad to again visit Christchurch and enjoy the city’s beautiful surroundings. The action of the Deputy-Mayor in welcoming them was particularly gratifying as it showed that lie recognised that a bowler, as a rule, was a good citizen. Messrs R. M’Callum (Auckland) and J. Marlow (Dunedin) also responded. The Council met to-day, the principal subject of discussion being the question of arrangements for the Dommion tournament to be held in L-nmtchureli in January next. An apology for absence was received from Mr A. F. Smart New Plymouth. Following this afternoon’s proceedings delegates will be entertained to tea by Mrs M. Barnett. This even in" visitors will attend a, dinner in their honour at Freeman’s Cafe and tomorrow motor-cars will "take t-he party out to Sefton, stopping for lunch at Rangiora and for a game of bowls at Kaiapoi.
