BENZINE CARGOES.

[Per Press Association.] r WELLINGTON, September 24. The secretary of the Watersiders’ Union repudiates the Napier allegations regarding carelessness in handling benzine cargoes. He states that the men are fully alive to the necessity of careful handling. If the union is held responsible for such disasters as the Tainui disaster, they wilf refuse to work such cargoes at all. Wooden vessels were unfit for such work. In many cases {bey W6r© found to be leaky on arrival ? but the shippers loaded them being anxious apparently only for quick dispatch. Ho approved of the suggestion that an inspector might be appointed by the harbour board.
