Rutherford (Montrose) is staying at the Clarendon. Miss Boyle, who has been inciting the North Island, returned to her homo tori ay-. -Mrs and Miss Burke and Mr O. Burke (Birch dale, Mood grove) are in, town. Major and Mrs Bond, arrived in Christchurch to-day after a holiday spent in Wellington. Mi ss -Muriel Little and Miss Stella i Murray will arrive in Christchurch tonight from Timarn. Mrs Hookin (Ton dal ton) will leave Christchurch this evening on a visit to Auckland. Mr and .Mrs -lames Davidson (Kai-l-mum) arrived in Christchurch yesterday. arid are staying at the ClarendonMiss Millin (Dunedin), who has been on a holiday to Akaro?, is staying in town prior to rcturnin to her home. -Miss Mary Haracs. a representative of the Chautauqua educational movement, has been in Christchurch for a lew days. Miss Nesta Mason left last evening For the North Island after spending her vacation with friends in Christchurch. -Mr and Mrs Percy Sargood (Duneand their two daughters have gone to Sydney to attend the marriage of Mr Sargood’s brother. Mrs Henry Wood and Miss Hope Wood returned to Christchurch to-day from Wellington- Miss Wood has been staying at Government House. The wedding of Miss Mary Tabart, which-had been arranged to take place to-morrow, has been unavoidably postponed . until Saturday next. Sister Mary Shirley, N.Z.A.N.S., has received her discharge in England. Sister Shirley was a masseuse in Christchurch and in Hanmcr before she went abroad. The engagement is announced of Miss Peggy Kendall, youngest daughter of Dr Martindalo Kendall, Wellington, to Mr Guy H. Robieson, only son of the fate Mr G. A. Robieson, NVellington. Mr and Mrs Philip Hardman arrived in Christchurch to-day from the North Island and are staying at the Clarendon until they go into a house in Fcncialtqn. Mr Philip Hardman has been a resident of Christchurch for about a year and on Saturday last ho was married to Miss E. Banks, of Sydney, the wedding taking place at the residence of the bride’s aunt in Hawke’s Bay. Mm T. Wilkinson, who has lately left the Cheviot district, was the recipient of a handsome entree dish from her Presbyterian friends. For the past two and a half years Mrs Wilkinson has been the organist of the Spotsrwood Presbyterian Church and Sunday School, and her faithful services have been greatly appreciated by the Presbyterian community. The’entree dish was of solid silver and suitably inscribed.

On Friday night last the Christchurch Technical College Past, and .Senior Students’ Association held its annual dance, which was quite the most successful and enjoyable function of the association’s season. The College Hall was crowded with a happy gathering of old students, and dainty frocks were the order of the evening. Dancing was kept up till an early hour in the morning, Air J. Logie, in his usual efficient manner, acting at AI.C. A dance arranged by a committee of young ladies, consisting of Alisses L. and C. Alurray, W. White-Parsons, V. I ago and R. Flynn was held in the ■Lyttelton Education Hall, last evening when there were about fifty, couples present, who spent a most -enjoyable rime. The decorations were reft effectively carried out. The gueshp of ttie evening were a number of the,.officers and engineers of oversea vessels at present in port. They included-Messrs i; Russell, W. VTobfisou, \V. feturrock, P. Denniss and O.
