MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The monthly meeting .of the Addington Burgesses’ Association was held in the Dickens Street Hall on Thursday last. The president (Mr H. L. Jackson) presided over a large attendance, including delegates from the various sports bodies in tho district, who attended to discuss with the association the building of a hall in Add.ington. After consideration the secretary was instructed to again write, asking the Minister of Justice to set aside a section of land for the purpose ; also to write to tho various parliamentary representatives of Christchurch, aakin« them to further the claims of tho as social tiou in the matter. It was also decided that a deputation should wait on the City Council to point out the necessity for* a hadl'in th) 6 district, and to ask for assistance towards the building of a hall.< The president reportedthat tho recent welcome home to Addington .soldiera had proved a great success! He also reported that a sum of £5 had been handed to the Rev Canon Bean as the result cf a social in aid of St Miry's School,
