BOROUGH COUNCILS.
AKAROA. The fortnightly meeting of the Akaroa Borough Cou.ndl was attended by the Mayor (Mr G. Armstrong) and Councillors Barnham Munro, Lccte, Piper, Davis, Parris, Wilson ard Kerridge. A letter was received from the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board stating that the matter of storm water flowing into Balquorio Street would be attended to. Several additional applications for electric current were granted The financial statement slowed the receipts since last meeting tv have been £338 12s 3d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £B9 Gs 3d. The Mayor reported < n his visit to Wellington to attend the Municipal Conference, and gave a resume of the business dene. Councillor Leete reported on his visit to Christchurch to represent the Borough Connell, along with the county chairman and Mr Bruce, as a deputation to tho Hospital Board regarding the proposed new hospital at Akaroa. He was pleased to state that, after a lengthy discussion, the board had agreed to give tho same accommodation for casualty wards as in the pn-.-ont hospital. Tho maternity ward would I e an addition.
