* CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. [Pee Press Association.] NAPTSR, September ~ The New Zealand golf championship was continued to-day in fine weather, but a bitterly cold wind blowing across the links evidently affected the players, as with one or two exceptions the scores returned were very pour. In the open championship, S. Morpeth (Waihi) tied with E. T. Douglas (professional), with a gross score of 237. J. A. Clements (professional) being next with 352. The amateur 'championship of Hawke’s Bar (played in conjunction with the open championship), _ was won by S. Morpeth, Kapi Tareha (Napier) and H. E. Cross (Napier; filling second and third places. The championship teams match for the O’Eorko vase, was won by the Napier Golf Club, with a score of 350. The following thirty-two players have qualified for the amateur championship, and -will play off (match play), commencing at 9.15 a_xn, to-morrow:— First Second round, round. Total. A. D. S.
