SEAMEN’S STRIKE.
COMPLETE DEADLOCK. ATTITUDE OF THE MEN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received August 20, 10.15 a-m.) t , . SYDNEY, August 20. A complete deadlock has bceu reached in the seamen’s strike. The seamen of the deep sea vessels at a meeting decided to refuse to work in the event of any deep sea vessel being used in the inter-State trade.
n I k e tcle S ram from the Hon E. D Milieu to the union states that the Government is not favourable to the appointment of an outside arbitrator to settle any points not disposed of at the round-table conference. These questions must bo referred to the Arbitration Court. The men refuse this stating that it is an attempt on the part of the Government to drive them into the Arbitration Court. They also resent the action of the Seamen’s Union officials in New Zealand providing a crew to enable the Prinzessin to compete in the Australian inter-State trade.
