ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR-CAR. A young man named John Carr, residing at Greenpark, who had come to j Christchurch for the Peace celebrations, I was knocked down by a motor-car, in High Street, at about 7.30 o’clock last night, and received several cuts about the face. Ha was immediately taken to the Hospital, where his injuries were attended to at the out-patients’ department. ACCIDENTS AT SEFTON A returned soldier who was competing in a rescue race at the Seftqn.Peace i celebrations sports yesterday afternoon i had one of his ears severely injured, j He was. conveyed to Rangiora in Mr J. D. Wyllie’s motor-car, and received surgical attention frt>m Dr Barnett. While returning to Sefton Mr Wyllie’s car was again requisitioned for ambulance duty. Mr and Mrs Eli Scott, of Rangiora, were driving home from Sefton, and as they approached Mr Wyllie’s car on the stretch of road across the Ashley river-bed, the horse shied at the flags fluttering on the motor-car and, swerving off the road, | overturned the gig. Both the occu- j pants were elderly people, and they I were badly bniised_and shaken owing to having been thrown on to the rough 1 shingle of the river-bed., They also both i sustained severe cuts on the forehead. Mr Wyllie conveyed them to Rangiora, where thev received medical attention from Dr Will at Brooklehnrst Hospital, and were afterwards taken to their homes. Immediately the accident Occurred the horse holted with the gig. and up to a late hour last night had not been found again. SHOOTING ACCIDENT. [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, July 21. Noel Wilson, son of Sir James Wilson, Bulls, was quail-shooting on Saturday whem a shot glanced off a stump and entered Wilson’s eye. The injury Is of a grave nature. The patient has been taken to Wellington for treatment. RUN DOWN BY A CYCLIST. Leonard Fisher, who was run down by an unknown cyclist, died in the hospital after an operation. SUDDEN DEATH. [Per Press Association.] GISBORNE, July 21. Patrick Sheridan, aged seventy-nine years, formerly connected with the Native Department, Wellington, was found dead in bed early this morning.
