A public meeting was held in the Surf \Clnb pavilion, North Beach, on Saturday evening. Mr A. R. Blank was voted to the chair and some fil'f? persons were present. Mr Whatman., secretary of the Burgesses' Association, wrote stating that the meeting ha.l been called in consequence of a visit to the school by Dr Thacker (Mayor of ChristchurchJ and Mr Opie. Both had expressed the opinion that a more suitable site should be procured and had suggested a meeting of residents to consider the matter. On the motion of Mr E. Leaver, seconded by Mr G. Henry, the following resolution was . carried unanimously:—"That this meeting approves of the present site of four acres at the south-west corner of the North Reserve, considering it well serves l ,the convenience of the children, and strongly resents any attempt, to alter the site."
