SOLDIERS’ CLUBHOUSE.
OPENED AT TIIENTHAJI. GOVERNOR-GENER AL’S TRIBUTE TO RED CROSS WORKERS. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 21. This afternoon the Covernor-Genera 1 opened the new soldiers’ clnblionse in the hospital grounds at Trentham. The building was originally constructed for nso as a hospital ward, from funds subscribed by the residents of Wairnrapa, but was subsequently handed over to the Red Cross Society, which has converted it into a very comfortable clubhouse. In declaring the club opened, Lord Liverpool congratulated all Red Cross workers in New Zealand on the great work they had accomplished during the war. He had been told by General Richardson of the work the society had done for New Zealand soldiers m England and ho applauded the society's noble work.
