“ANCONIA SHEEP DIP.”
' ■»—— MANUFACTURER FOUND GUILTY. [Pxa P&sss Association.] AUCKLAND, March 6. After a trial occupying four days, John C. Harrison was convicted at the Supreme Court to-day on four counts of falto pretences in connection with the sale of “ Anconia Sheep Dip.” _Bor the Crown the evidence was offered on the four counts by printers who had supplied advertising matters, merchants who had supplied ingredients, storekeepers who had accepted agencies, paying various sums for the first supplies, and the analytical chemist and officers of the Agricultural Department regarding tests made and the valuesof the preparation. A witness from South Australia gave evidence that the accused in July, 1917, persuaded him to take an agency for “Mexico Sheep Dip,” tho printed matter and packets being similar to in connection with the “ Anconia” dip. No evidence was tendered, on the- fifth count. -Counsel for accused did not tender evidence, but addressed the jury, which was directed by the Judge to ignore tho alternative charges of theft. Sentence was deferred.
